Gwinnett County Public Schools has unveiled the calendars for the next two school years, but it’s drawing some criticism from at least one school board member who feels it is not inclusive enough.
The calendars are limited to how many holidays are recognized in them. Columbus Day and Presidents Day are incorporated into larger breaks for students and teachers while the winter breaks last two weeks, encompassing both Christmas and New Year’s Day.
The only holidays which get named specifically in the calendars, and fall within the academic year for students and teachers, are Thanksgiving and the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday…
