Brief, minor freezing rain event possible early Sunday morning

As showers move into a cold airmass overnight, a few spots could see a brief, minor freezing rain event. We currently have very dry air in place that will keep any precipitation from making it to the surface, however this air will gradually saturate overnight. By the wee hours of Sunday morning a few spots at the higher elevations could receive a light glaze of freezing rain. A few sleet pellets are also possible just as the rain begins.

Total accumulations will be less than 1/20″ at most, and be limited to primarily elevated surfaces. The best time for any freezing rain will be from 2-7AM, with any threat of issues over shortly after sunrise. If you plan to be traveling around Amicalola, Nimblewell, Suches or Sky Valley during the wee hours of Sunday use extra caution on any porches/sidewalks or high elevation passes…
