Crash with injuries in Lula Sunday remains under investigation

A crash in Lula on Sunday afternoon leaves a teenage driver of one vehicle and another vehicle’s driver and passenger with injuries, while the incident remains under investigation.

Officials with Georgia State Patrol (GSP) said a trooper from the barracks in Gainesville responded to a two-vehicle crash with injuries on State Route 52 (Lula Road), east of Huckleberry Lane/Lula Bridge over Lake Lanier.

The investigation determined that a Ford Ranger driven by a 16-year-old, was traveling west on Lula Road. While negotiating a curve, the 16- year-old was driving too fast for the wet roadway conditions and began to lose control. As a result, the Ranger traveled across the centerline and struck a westbound Honda Odyssey van driven by 73-year-old Teresa Sellers of Mt. Airy. After the impact, the Ranger came to an uncontrolled rest in the roadway while the Odyssey traveled off of the north shoulder and came to rest in a ditch.

The 16 year old and the passenger in the Odyssey, 78-year old Joe Sellers of Mt Airy, were transported from the scene by ambulance for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. Mrs. Sellers had a complaint of injury…
