While the fourth annual Neighborhood Christmas Train Experience provides fun and recreation for model train enthusiasts of all ages, it also provides critical resources for a local nonprofit helping individuals and families in crisis.
For the next two weekends, a portion of ticket sales for the Neighborhood Christmas Train Experience — Atlanta’s largest Christmas train, located at 3135 Repps Miller Road in Norcross — are directed to benefit Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries, which for some four decades has provided a variety of services for low-income and homeless families in the community.
“Last year, we raised $11,000 for them; this year, our goal is to raise $15,000 and then we’ll get a matching grant,” said Jonathan Galucki, who along with his son Matthew and nephews Todd and Tom spend untold hours designing and constructing the massive set of tracks and the glittering neighborhoods that surround it. “Our registrations are 100% higher than they were at this point last year, so we’ve hopeful.”…
