Victim loses thumb after verbal argument escalates at Hall Co. residence

A 42-year-old man has been arrested after a verbal argument at a weekend gathering turned into an alleged machete assault.

According to the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO), they responded to a residence on Floyd Road in Gainesville just after 3 a.m. Saturday.

Carlos Hernandez Nicolas and the victim, 38-year-old Jose Turcios Garcia, got into a verbal argument beforehand that turned into a physical fight.

During the fight, Hernandez Nicolas reportedly grabbed a machete and assaulted Turcio Garcias. The victim was transported to Northeast Georgia Medical Center Gainesville for injuries that included an amputated left thumb…
