Santa’s Big Canoe Woodworkers donate wooden puzzles and cars to Toys for Tots

The puzzle makers in the Big Canoe Woodworkers Club have been busy creating wooden puzzles and toy cars for needy children in Pickens County. John Gieger and Cecil Schneider delivered about 250 wooden puzzles and cars to the Marine Corps Toys for Tots organization in Jasper on November 15th, in time for the opening of the Toys for Tots store. This is the tenth year that the Woodworkers have made the wooden puzzles for Toys for Tots.

Cecil said “We made a variety of stained and colored puzzles, with puzzles that appeal to both girls and boys.” These include aircraft, trucks, construction equipment and trains as well as dolls, butterflies and owls. He added “Its always a joy to us to hear that there are never any of these left, and that the children really enjoy receiving these gifts”.

Amy Brannon, Toys for Tots coordinator, said “We are still open to receive donations of new toys. Within Big Canoe we have boxes located at the Fire Station and the POA office building. There is also a box outside the North gate at the new Dollar General store. We will have our store front up and running in early December on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.”…
