Holiday traditions range from carols to candles, celebratory feasts and gift exchanges, all to reaffirm friends and family. For the past 35 years Gwinnett law enforcement has taken one night in December to give back to the community in that same spirit of goodwill.
Police officers from 10 Gwinnett departments volunteered Thursday evening to join with families at the Walmart on Lawrenceville Highway. Together they walked down aisles of toys and clothes as children made their picks for Christmas, the officers giving their time and providing these families a means to put gifts under the tree.
“(The experience) is indescribable,” Gwinnett County Sheriff Keybo Taylor said. “The need and the insecurities out here, there’s still a lot going on with folks…
