High fire danger issued as New Year’s Eve celebrations are expected

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a high fire danger alert for central and parts of north Georgia.

In the region White, Hall, Forsyth, Banks, Gwinnett, Jackson, and Barrow Counties are all under high fire danger for Wednesday afternoon into early evening as New Year’s fireworks are expected.

The conditions are due to a lack of recent rainfall and very dry conditions. The dryness is expected to subside with storms to roll through this weekend according to NWS.
