Police investigate suspicious devices at Gainesville gas station

Police say suspicious devices found at a gas station in Gainesville led to an investigation that temporarily left a roadway in the city closed Thursday morning.

Captain Kevin Holbrook with the Gainesville Police Department said officers were called to the RaceTrac gas station on McEver Road at Browns Bridge just before 10:00 a.m. Thursday.

“Officers did locate a couple of devices they deemed suspicious,” Holbrook said. “Investigators are still working to determine exactly what the devices are. However, at this time, we will say that they have been deemed safe by the explosive ordinances division of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI.)”

While the investigation was ongoing, police temporarily closed McEver Road between Browns Bridge Road and Gould Drive. The roadway has since been re-opened…
