Gainesville man arrested on charges of aggravated assault, terroristic threats

A Gainesville man was arrested on felony charges of terroristic threats and acts and aggravated assault following a Wednesday afternoon dispute at a residential property on Gillsville Highway.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called to the 3300 block of Gillsville Highway just before 4:20 p.m. to a report that a wheelchair-bound victim had been hit in the back of the neck with a large knife. According to the agency, witnesses at the scene identified the offender as Reed Farris Sims, 38, who lived at a residence on the property.

An initial investigation at the scene determined that the suspect had entered the shed on the property, prompting an argument with the adult male victim, who lives in the structure with his wife.

Sims reportedly became agitated and struck the victim with the knife while stating he would kill the victim. The victim was not seriously injured because Sims struck the victim with the side of the knife and not the sharp blade, HCSO clarified…
