UPDATE: Main St. Gainesville remains blocked from Monday afternoon wreck

UPDATE: Tuesday, February 10, 2026 @ 10:45 a.m.

The driver of a landscaping truck is cited by Georgia State Patrol (GSP) from a crash that damaged the vehicle and a parking deck along Gainesville’s Main Street Monday afternoon.

A release from GSP Tuesday morning said their investigation determined that an Isuzu NPR landscaping truck, driven by 21-year old Demarco D. Goss of Gainesville, was traveling south on Northside Drive and stopped for the stop sign at the intersection of West Academy Street. A Dodge Journey, driven by 38-year old Jennifer Ann Mize of Dahlonega was traveling west on West Academy Street approaching the intersection of Northside Drive/Main Street.

GSP officials said Goss was attempting to turn left eastward on West Academy Street when the NPR entered the path of the Journey, causing the NPR to travel off of the road and strike a streetlight and stop sign before striking the brick wall of the entrance to the parking deck at 130 Main Street.
