RHODE ISLAND, USA — A Cumming man pleaded guilty to his role in defrauding at least $1 million through a multi-state lottery and sweepstakes scheme targeting seniors in Rhode Island and several other states.
According to court documents, 38-year-old Patrick Dallas and two co-conspirators defrauded elderly people through a bogus sweepstakes scam, similar to “Publishers Clearing House.” They laundered the proceeds through entities and bank accounts they controlled.
Victims were told they had won large sums of money, often millions of dollars, in a PCH lottery or sweepstakes. They were instructed to provide personally identifying information for prize verification to collect their winnings…
