After more than a decade in business, Johnny B’s Beef N Brew closed its doors for the last time on Feb. 28. The restaurant had been a cherished spot for locals and college students alike, but earlier this month the owner was told they had 30 days to leave. The news that the restaurant was closing did not sit well with the community.
Elizabeth Cloudt, University of North Georgia sophomore health administration major, said it is ruining college students’ social lives. Locals went as far as to organize a petition in protest. For 20 years, Johnny B’s has been a place where Dahlonega residents can count on good food and where college students go to celebrate milestones and escape the stresses of school.
