Death penalty sought for woman accused of beating 4-year-old girl to death, putting remains in trunk in Hall County

HALL COUNTY, Ga. — Prosecutors are now seeking the death penalty for a woman charged with murder after allegedly beating a 4-year-old girl to death and putting her remains in the trunk at a Hall County home last October.

Jessica Motes was charged with murder more than a week after she was charged with concealing a death after a 4-year-old girl’s remains were found in her trunk, according to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.

A previous warrant stated that Motes was seen by her dad on Oct. 26 driving into a shopping center parking lot in Oakwood, and that she allegedly told him she “Hurt (redacted name)” and “I think she is dead.” According to the accusations in the warrant, her dad then drove her away from the parking lot and, in an encounter with law enforcement, the remains of the 4-year-old girl were found in the trunk of Motes’ car…
