The Gwinnett County Board of Education announced this week it had chosen a new superintendent, and reaction so far has ranged from excitement and cautious optimism to criticism and concern.
The board announced late Wednesday that Norwalk (Conn.) Public Schools Superintendent Alexandra Estrella had been named the sole finalist for the job of leading one of the nation’s largest and most diverse school systems.
Estrella is a longtime educator, a former teacher and principal, with most of her experience in New York City. She’s also Latina, and the daughter of immigrants, experiences that mirror those of many Gwinnett students…
