ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — Lifeline Animal Services held its first Super Adopt-A-Thon Sunday, bringing together 150 dogs from Fulton and DeKalb counties for a one-day adoption event at Little Pine Trail in Alpharetta.
Organizers said the event comes as local shelters prepare for an increase in animal intakes during the warmer months.
“As we get into spring and then summer, those are our busiest times for intakes,” Meera Solomon, director of volunteer services for the Lifeline Animal Project, said. “And unfortunately, we have been seeing record-high intakes in our shelters for the last two years by over 30%, so we have so many more animals in need coming into our shelters. And that always increases, that spikes in the warmer months.”…
