Nurses group says VA could have done more to prevent deadly Jasper clinic shooting

DECATUR, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A national nurses union says more security and staffing at Veterans Affairs (VA) facilities could help prevent shootings like the one that killed a social worker at a clinic in Jasper.

Nic Crews was shot March 17 and died two days later.

National Nurses United said steps such as installing metal detectors and addressing what it describes as severe understaffing could reduce the risk of workplace violence and improve care for veterans seeking mental health services…
