ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) — A north Georgia hospital is celebrating a milestone.
The neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Northeast Georgia Medical Center (NGMC) Braselton is the first in the state to be officially designated by the Georgia Department of Public Health (DPH) as a Level II unit, hospital officials announced Monday.
The designation is based on national standards from the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP).
A Level II designation means the NICU treats babies who are premature “or who are moderately ill with problems that are expected to resolve rapidly and are not anticipated to need subspecialty services on an urgent basis,” according to AAP…
