Hall Commission Chair Gibbs provides updates on new courthouse

After it was reported over a year ago that Hall County was in the early stages of a potential new courthouse, Hall County Commission Chairman David Gibbs spoke on WDUN’s “The Drive at 5” on Monday about the latest developments.

“The citizens are the buyers. I’m not the buyer,” Gibbs said. “I’m not here to influence, I’m here to do what’s right, listen to the citizens, take care of the citizens, take care of Hall County and win.”

At a work session on April 6, multiple Midtown residents spoke to the Board of Commissioners saying they were approached by representatives with the county. The ensuing conversations led to roughly 16 property owners believing the county wanted to buy all of their land.

“The cat’s out of the bag on this courthouse,” Gibbs said at the meeting. “I want to have two or three meetings with the public, because I want public input.”…
