A Red Flag Warning is in effect for far north Georgia where wind gusts of 20-25 mph are also forecast. The National Weather Service website in Peachtree City, GA (NWS) announced this morning that Outdoor burning is strongly discouraged, as fires could get out of control. The NWS says due to continuous low relative humidity, and strong winds in northeast Georgia, the Red Flag warning will run between 12:00 noon and 8:00 p.m.
Counties under the Red Flag Warning from NWS include Banks, Barrow, Cherokee, Fannin, Forsyth, Gilmer, Gwinnett, Hall, Habersham, Lumpkin, Madison, Pickens, Towns, Union and White Counties. This warning also includes the Chattahoochee National Forest in Georgia.
