The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded two roadway improvement projects in Hall County worth over $7 million to improve safety and driving conditions along State Route 53.
GDOT said the projects will target worn pavement along critical sections of SR 53, an important corridor for residents, commuters, and freight traffic in Northeast Georgia.
Roadwork is set to begin on the road, where nearly 2.6 miles will undergo milling and plant mix resurfacing. The project will stretch from just south of State Route 211 to the Jackson County line.
