The Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) has awarded a construction contract for a roadway improvement project in Lumpkin County that will enhance safety and driving conditions along State Route 9.
A press release on Thursday from GDOT officials indicates that they have approved Project M006740, which includes 7.344 miles of milling, inlay, plant mix resurfacing, and shoulder rehabilitation on State Route 9, beginning south of Ben Higgins Road and extending to State Route 60/Business.
GDOT officials noted the contract has been awarded to Colditz Trucking, Inc., with a total project cost of $3,786,455.90. Weather permitting, the construction is expected to be completed by March 31, 2027.
