White County man faces Hall County charges for financial transaction card fraud

A Cleveland, Georgia man faces a felony charge of financial transaction card fraud for the unauthorized use of his former employer’s credit card last year.

A statement from the Hall County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) Thursday morning said the White County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) detained 25-year-old Hershel John Hightower on Tuesday morning, May 12, and transferred him to the custody of HCSO’s Warrant Service deputies to face his local charge.

According to the HCSO preliminary investigation, Hightower used a local maintenance company credit card number to make unauthorized transactions with a wireless carrier. The transactions were made after Hightower no longer worked for the company.

Authorities also said that Hightower also used the number to pay a friend’s traffic ticket. He took cash as payment from the friend, who did not know the card number was stolen…
