Texas vs Manhattan: $1,500 Rent Gets You Almost 4X The Space In Dallas Than In New York

A $1,500 monthly rent budget stretches significantly further in Texas than in many parts of the country, with renters in several Texas cities able to secure apartments well above the national average in size, according to a new RentCafe analysis.

The report ranked 200 U.S. cities based on how much apartment space renters can afford with a $1,500 monthly budget. While the national average is 703 square feet, Dallas renters can expect about 806 square feet for the same amount.

Dallas Lags Behind Several DFW Neighbors

Although Dallas offers more living space than the national average, renters can stretch a $1,500 monthly budget even further in several neighboring cities across the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex.

According to RentCafe’s rankings, Dallas renters receive 806 square feet for $1,500 per month. However, renters in Mesquite can afford 988 square feet with the same budget, while Arlington offers 927 square feet, and Garland provides 924 square feet…
