Severe Thunderstorms to Hit Kansas, Oklahoma and North Texas Through Mother’s Day With Hail, Wind and Tornado Risk

WASHINGTON, DC — A new round of severe weather is expected to return to the Plains after a short break. Forecasters say nearly 40 million people could see storms from Friday into Mother’s Day.

The main threats are large hail and damaging wind gusts, with some storms capable of producing weak tornadoes.

Storm Zone

The highest risk area includes southern Kansas, much of central and eastern Oklahoma, and parts of North Texas.

That zone includes Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Wichita Falls, Texas.
