Before Dallas’s Medical District truly emerged in the 1940s, the city’s north side had a distinctly different identity. Instead of the sprawling campuses, condos, and commercial development that define its current landscape, the area was a rural rail stop at the onset of massive transformation.
In 1927, when Mary King Memorial Methodist Church was built at 2602 Kings Road on the Alfred King Lucas homestead. Nearly a century later, its wooden bell tower and rose-lined wrought-iron fence remain, even as nearly everything around it has changed.
The congregation later relocated, and in 2003 the property was converted into live-work residences. Now the former church is back on the market for this week’s Inwood Home of the Week, sponsored by Inwood National Bank.
