A Grand Prairie Golden Chick employee has been formally charged with planning an armed robbery of the same restaurant she worked.
Laura Gonzalez, 44, was indicted Tuesday on a charge of attempting to interfere with commerce by robbery after federal agents said they stopped the plot before anyone was hurt, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Texas.
The planned target was the Golden Chick on East Mayfield Road off I-20 in Grand Prairie. Prosecutors said Gonzalez communicated between Aug. 3 and Aug. 6 with a person she believed could help commit the robbery. That person was actually working undercover with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, according to the criminal complaint.
Prosecutors said Gonzalez gave detailed information about the restaurant, including employee schedules, the safe, camera placement, expected cash on hand and how to enter through an unlocked rear door.
