It’s hard to imagine Dallas’ Turtle Creek area without the eight bridges connecting the east and west sides of the creek. But that’s exactly what it was like 100 years ago. It was a time when the land where today stands the Warrington Condominiums was an unbridled terrain with wildlife. It was much like the wooded area surrounding today’s Kalita Humphreys Theater.
And even before there was a thought of Turtle Creek Village with its gleaming office buildings, stores and restaurants, Jesuit College Preparatory School was being planned.
Back then, stately mansions started sprouting up on both sides of the creek. Why, Turtle Creek Boulevard itself was just a two-lane street. But realizing the potential and probable need to connect the two areas, city leaders undertook the creation of connectors that would bring the community closer together. Those connectors were resilient bridges that would survive the test of time…
