Bread Zeppelin, the Dallas-born chain known for hollowing out toasted baguettes and stuffing them with salad, is opening a Richardson location at 1920 N. Coit Road, Suite 201, on Wednesday. The new shop will operate from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily once it opens, and the first 50 guests through the door on opening day will walk away with free Zeppelins for an entire year.
The Richardson spot marks the chain’s 12th Texas location, according to CultureMap Dallas. Bread Zeppelin’s signature move is taking a toasted artisan baguette, hollowing it out, and filling it with salad, housemade dressing and freshly prepared proteins, creating what the chain markets as a portable salad sandwich that requires no fork. Co-founder Troy Charhon said Richardson’s community and surrounding families match the qualities Bread Zeppelin seeks in a new location, per the outlet’s report.
The concept grew out of the founders’ earlier work in Dallas specialty-food retail: Troy Charhon and Andrew Schoellkopf, friends since high school, worked at Central Market and Eatzi’s, where they saw demand for salads. The first shop opened on MacArthur Boulevard in Las Colinas; the pair added a Plano location just over a year later.
