DALLAS, TX — Two people have been arrested in connection with the drowning death of an 18-year-old at Lake Ray Hubbard after Dallas police said investigators found evidence that items belonging to the teen were concealed or discarded.
Lucas Roper, 19, and a juvenile suspect each face a charge of tampering with physical evidence, a third-degree felony. Police said the arrests came after the Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Daniel Erving’s death an accidental drowning.
Dallas police said detectives worked the case through interviews, evidence collection and coordination with the medical examiner’s office. A department spokesperson said officers extended condolences to Erving’s family and described the death as a tragic incident involving a young person.
