Dallas based company agrees to settlement following discrimination investigation

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced a warehousing and logistics management company headquartered in Dallas agreed to a settlement after an investigation found the company hired men over women applicants including Amarillo.

The EEOC said Birchstone Management agreed to provide $55,000 to the applicant who filed the charge and $445,000 following an investigation that found the company “turned away a qualified worker seeking a job at the company’s Spokane Valley location as a pallet repairer solely because of her sex.” The alleged conduct violates Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964.

According to officials with the EEOC, since May 2020, the company had rejected other “qualified female applicants” at the facility as well as in Amarillo and Houston, Lakewood, Washington; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

The company reportedly hired men over women applicants “with similar or fewer qualifications or continued to seek non-female applicants.” The company was also found to have failed to maintain employment records required by federal law…
