Popular restauranteur Fernando Barrera, founder and owner of Latin Deli and Josefina’s Cocina, died last month. He was 51.
Barrera was born in La Moncada, Guanajuato, and raised in Toluca, Mexico by a devoted single mom. He named his restaurant in Richardson to honor her.
“She raised her children with faith, discipline and love,” he wrote when the restaurant opened, “and taught them that nothing in life comes without effort…Her cooking brought the family together.”…
