Man Killed in Texas Plane Crash After Stealing Aircraft From Flight School: Authorities

A 23-year-old man who died in a small plane crash Wednesday in Texas had stolen the aircraft from a flight school, state authorities said.

Authorities identified the pilot as Logan Timothy James, 23, of Stokesdale, North Carolina. Investigators said he had taken the plane from the ATP Flight School in Addison. No one else was on board and no other injuries were reported.

The crash happened around 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Texas Department of Public Safety said.

Addison city officials said James was a student at the flight school, Dallas television station WFAA reported.

The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating.
