Dallas man admits to triple murder in Garland, sentenced to 45 years in plea deal

On a hot night in August of 2021 , 26-year-old Erick Garcia, along with 25-year-old Maria Fernanda Molina, and 19-year-old Jesus Angel Gomez Jr. jumped out of a van armed with weapons.

Police records show the trio opened fire on three men who were sitting outside the Orchard Hills Apartment complex in the 1300 block of West Kingsley Road in Garland. All three were killed.

The shooting was believed to be due to an escalation from a personal dispute between two of the victims and the suspects. One of the victims had no previous involvement with the suspects, according to Garland Police.

Molina and Gomez were arrested and charged with capital murder. And even though Garcia fled, the was eventually tracked down and charged with capital murder as well.

But now court papers say Garcia has pleaded guilty to a reduced charge of felony murder for a 45-year prison term. Had Garcia been convicted of capital murder the sentence would have been a mandatory life without parole.
