Why are we so mild right now? The polar jet stream has shifted well to the north of us and it will remain there at least for the next seven days.
Our next weather change will arrive by the second half of Friday into Saturday, as a strong upper-level disturbance moves across the area. It’s still too early to give exact rainfall amounts, but everyone will see rain during this time frame. Current data continues to show the heaviest rain will fall in east Texas.
All the rain will press east of DFW by Saturday afternoon, but temperatures will remain mild with highs in the mid-60s.
A cold front will move through the area Sunday morning, but the air behind it won’t be that cold. However, it will be very windy with northerly winds gusting to 35 mph. By Sunday evening, some wrap around moisture will move in from the north. There may be a few isolated showers, but most of you will stay dry.
We’ll start off next week sunny, windy, and seasonable with highs in the upper 50s.
