Arlington officials close park after two coyote attacks

The City of Arlington has closed Parkway Central Park on Van Buren Drive after two incidents where kids were bitten by a coyote, authorities shared.

The first attack happened on Saturday, Feb. 10, and Arlington Animal Services responded by deploying patrols in the park and setting up a trap.

However, they were not able to capture the animal. Then, a second child reported being bitten by a coyote this week.

Authorities assume it was the same animal from the incident on Saturday, and the park was closed to the public Tuesday night as a precaution.

Arlington Animal Services is adding more patrols to the park and is putting out more traps. Their goal is to tranquilize the coyote and capture it.
