It’s a shame the NFL preseason doesn’t count for more than a training camp tune-up.

If it did, Cowboys kicker Brandon Aubrey would have just nailed one of the longest field goals in league history.

His 66-yard boot put Dallas up 13-6 over the Las Vegas Raiders in the team’s second preseason game, and it also would have tied Justin Tucker’s record-setting kick from 2021.

After missing a 65-yard kick in the first week of preseason play, Aubrey stepped up against the Raiders to attempt an even longer try with nothing to lose. With time expiring to end the half, the Cowboys kicker absolutely obliterated the ball, drilling it through the uprights with distance to spare.

If preseason field goals mattered in the grand scheme of things when it comes to the NFL, Aubrey’s kick would match Tucker’s for the longest field goal in the league’s existence.
