Allen man who shot 23 people at a Walmart in El Paso in 2019 faces possible death penalty

The Allen man who gunned down 23 people at a Walmart in El Paso in 2019 will be in a state courtroom today, where he’s facing the death penalty. He was already sentenced to 90 consecutive life sentences in federal court.

Texas District Judge Sam Medrano ordered Patrick Crusius to attend Thursday’s scheduling hearing for the state trial where he’s facing multiple capital murder charges and 22 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

El Paso County District Attorney Bill Hicks says 20 minutes prior to the 2019 shooting Crusius took to social media with the message this is “in response to the Hispanic invasion of Texas.”
