Hot weekend ahead before fall-like temperatures finally arrive

North Texas will have to endure some intense heat for September, but fall-like temperatures will finally arrive next week.

Friday morning began with clear skies and temperatures in the 70s. There will be plenty of sunshine and it will be hot. Afternoon highs will reach the mid to upper 90s. Heat index values will be as high as 105.

There won’t be any changes this weekend, however, temperatures will be a few degrees cooler. Plenty of sunshine for Saturday with highs in the mid-90s. There will be increasing clouds late Sunday with highs in the low 90s. Morning lows will be in the 70s.

Big weather changes are coming next week. Monday morning there will be rain on the radar as the cold front sneaks into the area. Sunshine will be hard to come by during the afternoon with highs only near 80. Most of the rain will fall during the first half of the day.

The front lifts back to the north on Tuesday with a few showers possible. Afternoon highs will be in the mid to upper 80s.

By late Tuesday night into Wednesday, this front will come back through the area with a decent shot of showers and storms. Rain will taper off from northwest to southeast during the day on Wednesday. Afternoon highs will only reach the low 80s, in the 70s in the rain.
