Anthony Edwards and the new-look Minnesota Timberwolves fell to 2-2 on the 2024-25 NBA season after suffering a 120-114 loss to Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in a rematch of the 2024 Western Conference Finals on Tuesday night.
Edwards, the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NBA draft, started the night off hot, scoring 24 points and making six three-pointers in the first quarter. However, the former Georgia Bulldogs standout slowed down in the final 36 minutes.
Overall, Edwards still finished the game with 37 points on 12-of-20 shooting, six rebounds and three assists.
Although Edwards had one of his better games of the young season in the box score, the fifth-year star made a critical error in the final seconds that helped the Mavs secure the win.
With 18 seconds remaining in the game, the Timberwolves, down four points, grabbed a rebound and had a chance to get the game within one possession. Edwards received the ball and dribbled up the court before being stripped immediately by Dallas’ Naji Marshall with 13 seconds left: a clutch-time turnover.
