DALLAS (KDAF)– For the horror movie fans who can be a real monster without their caffeine fix, Scary Good Coffee in downtown Dallas has the decor and drinks for you.
Adam Johnson, a longtime barista and horror movie enthusiast, opened the shop in summer 2024. “We wanted to serve high quality, craft coffee and give it a unique experience,” Johnson said.
Michael Meyers greets you at the door. He’s surrounded by their Scary Good Coffee T-shirts and merch. Plus, whole coffee bags for sale from their roasters at Cultivar. Those are guarded by a skeleton and Chucky. Freddy Kruger looks after their seating area with skull pillows, scary books, and horror movie posters. There is also a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game and corner that strangely fits the space.
Johnson said connecting with his customers is one of the most rewarding aspects.
“It’s great to meet and chat with them [customers] about their favorite movies or their favorite drinks,” he said. “It’s great to be able to give people really good craft coffee and maybe even get them to try something outside their comfort zone.
