Crawford Memorial Park in East Dallas set for major upgrades with new trails, bridges, picnic areas

Dallas, Texas – Thanks to a recent $1.5 million grant from the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department, East Dallas’s Crawford Memorial Park is about to change. Approved by the Dallas Park and Recreation Board, the money is intended to begin the first phase of major renovations meant to make the park more appealing to visitors, inclusive, and accessible to guests from around the city.

Celebrated as one of Dallas’s “Signature Parks,” Crawford Memorial Park is tucked in District 5 and boasts natural elements that set it apart as an outdoor refuge. With 27 acres of Black Land Prairie, 50 acres of Post Oak Savannah, and a 1.4-mile length of Prairie Creek, the park offers a varied landscape It also displays an Austin chalk escarpment with exposed rock formations, an uncommon sight in an urban setting.

“This grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife will help provide these additional amenities that will not only serve the local community, but the city as a whole,” said Dallas City Council Member Jaime Resendez, who represents District 5.
