Funeral services are set for the Greenville police officer fatally shot in the line of duty last week, as the community grieves the loss of Ofc. Cooper Dawson.
A service is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday at LakePoint Church in Rockwall. Doors will open at 9 a.m.
Dawson was fatally shot while pursuing Christian Sparger, a suspect with four outstanding warrants related to probation and parole violations. Sparger now faces capital murder charges.
Dawson was the first Greenville police officer to die in the line of duty in more than 100 years. He is survived by his wife and three children.
