A lavish mansion built in an exclusive community by the former CEO and co-founder of a major Texas real estate and development company was just listed for sale in North Dallas by Jonathan Rosen of Compass . It’s currently priced at just over $24.9 million.
The more-than six-acre property belongs to David Weinrab, according to Mansions Global . Weinrab is the co-founder and former CEO of Howard Hughes Holdings—a company based in The Woodlands but with projects all over the country. Weinrab reportedly cobbled together the land 25 years ago and then spent several more years building the 16,000-square-foot main home. (There is a second home on the acreage that adds an additional 4,000 square feet of living space.)
The distinctive home—which has a staggering nine bedrooms and 14 bathrooms—is known as The Forty, a nod to its location in the (very) small community of North Forty. North Forty is a former ranch known as Oakdale Farm that was subdivided into eight lots in the 1960s. D Magazine, which describes the neighborhood as “ranch-like,” reported that buyer Ross Forney “invited prominent families” to move there in 1966 and added a stable and tennis courts. Other well-known residents have included Guy Mascolo, the founder of British hairdressing brand Toni&Guy.
The house at 5530 North 40 Place is, as one might imagine, luxurious, with one wing dedicated to the owner’s living space and another to entertainment, according to the listing. This is to say the entertainment wing includes a bar, library, massage room, media room, game room and wine cellar that all open onto the outdoor spaces. The extensive grounds include a pond, tennis court, swimming pool, putting green and pavilion for entertaining up to 600 guests.
