Theft deterrent operation leads to 17 arrests in Plano

PLANO, Texas — The Plano Police Department successfully conducted a Theft Deterrent Operation on March 13, 2025, in collaboration with local businesses and law enforcement agencies across the Metroplex. The initiative aimed to address the rise in theft and organized retail crime through a proactive policing approach.

The operation, developed by the department’s General Crimes Unit, sought to apprehend real-time theft offenders and deter future crimes by establishing a strong, unified presence across several locations within Plano. The collective effort included contributions from Plano PD’s Property Crimes Unit, Surveillance Unit, Neighborhood Police Officers, and Patrol Officers. Additionally, representatives from seven different law enforcement agencies, including Texas DPS, Grapevine PD, Euless PD, Lake Worth PD, Colleyville PD, Prosper PD, and Allen PD, participated in the operation.
