Teen sentenced to 40 years for murder in shooting of Arlington Bowie High School classmate

A 17-year-old has been sentenced to 40 years in prison for the April 2024 shooting death of a classmate at Arlington Bowie High School, Tarrant County District Attorney Phil Sorrells said.

The shooter, Julian Howard, pleaded guilty on Friday to murder in the death of 18-year-old Etavion Barnes, Sorrells said.
