Texas duo pleads guilty to fentanyl smuggling conspiracy in Dallas

LAREDO, Texas — Two individuals have admitted to conspiring to import 11.65 kilograms of fentanyl, according to U.S. Attorney Nicholas J. Ganjei. Taneka Desha Felder, a 27-year-old from Amarillo, and Gustavo Morales Aguilar, a 40-year-old naturalized U.S. citizen residing in Dumas, confessed to their involvement in the scheme.

The pair traveled to Mexico on December 17, 2024, where they allowed drug smugglers to load their vehicle with 10 bundles of fentanyl powder concealed in a hidden compartment, stated the source. They attempted to re-enter the United States at the Lincoln Juarez International Bridge, where authorities discovered the bundles during a secondary inspection. The drugs were hidden in a specially-manufactured compartment under the center console.

Felder and Morales Aguilar admitted to purchasing the car days before their trip to Mexico specifically for smuggling purposes. They expected payment upon successful delivery of the car and drugs to contacts in Dallas, according to the press release…
