Dallas Man Convicted of Murder at Shreveport Gas Station—Shot Victim 26 Times

Shreveport, La — A Dallas, Texas man has been found guilty in the brutal 2022 murder of Shreveport resident Jermond Houston, following a swift and unanimous verdict delivered in Caddo District Court on Wednesday, April 23, 2025.

Noel Deon Garner, 30, was convicted of second-degree murder by a 10-man, two-woman jury in the courtroom of District Judge Donald Hathaway Jr. after less than an hour of deliberation. The conviction stems from the January 20, 2022 killing of 25-year-old Houston at the Shell gas station in the 5400 block of West 70th Street, shortly after midnight.

Surveillance footage and testimony revealed that Garner entered the convenience store and approached Houston from behind as he checked out at the counter. Garner snatched a 9mm handgun with an extended magazine from Houston’s pocket. As Houston attempted to flee, Garner opened fire, striking him in the back and continuing to shoot as Houston fell to the floor. In total, Garner fired 26 rounds—fatally wounding Houston and even injuring himself in the foot in the process.

Garner fled the scene in a white sedan, which was later located and impounded by investigators…
