While the state announced the capture of one of its 10 most wanted fugitives on Monday, it’s also nearing the one-month mark since Trevor Rhey McEuen, the state’s most wanted fugitive, eluded capture. County officials, along with Gov. Abbott, have since increased the reward for information leading to his arrest.
McEuen was arrested in May 2023 for his alleged involvement in the fatal shooting of his neighbor in Forney, Texas, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. His last known whereabouts were near Grand Saline, though the circumstances of that report remain unclear. A joint reward totaling $30,000 is being offered: $10,000 from the governor’s office, $10,000 from Kaufman County Crime Stoppers, and $10,000 from the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office.
“We have no updates,” said Scott Whitaker, investigator with the Kaufman County Sheriff’s Office, in an email on May 28.
Warrants have since been issued out of Kaufman County for his arrest for capital murder by terror threat, murder and multiple counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, TXDPS said, adding that on May 6, a warrant was issued out of Van Zandt County for his arrest for arson of a habitation…
