Dallas-Area Mall Razed; New Shopping, Industrial Venture on Way

The outlet mall on I-35 was Dallas suburb Hillboro’s top destination. But like many dated malls, it gradually declined. Glaser Retail has purchased the property and just kicked off the demolition of the 1990s shopping center.

The new site plan includes 14 retail and restaurant pad sites on 28 acres along I-35, with an additional 15 acres at the rear of the property for warehouses. In all, the project will have roughly 200,000 square feet of retail and restaurant space, plus 230,000 square feet of industrial space.

The Dallas Business Journal reports the new owner says the $75 million project aims to attract a big-box retailer — potentially a home improvement, hardware or major grocery store — as its anchor…
